Sydne already narrowed down her top three statement necklaces, now it’s my turn.

1. Mixed Flower Pearl Necklace ($15.80)
This one is just so much fun and I’m always into anything that looks like some crazy old lady might wear it, so total win. Unfortunately, the bright springy colors won’t take you very far into fall, as that gets started pretty soon, so grab it now.

2. Bar Scale Necklace ($14.80)
Inspired by Nicole Richie’s line of jewelry, this necklace is so versatile (it can be worn day or night, with something super dressy or something super bohemian), really good F21 quality and trendy in a good way. How could I not recommend it?

3. Flattened Floral Necklace ($5.80)
Mostly I love how well this necklace can be worn with just a plain old shirt and make it look like you thought about it more.

After trying on jewelry with Jennifer for nearly an hour in ForLove21 (Forever 21’s accessories-only store), I finally narrowed down all the statement necklaces into my three faves:

Most Versatile
Stone Drape Necklace ($13.80)
Already own it, love it and wear it all the time.

Most Classic
Jeweled Net Necklace ($8.80)
It better be there when we go back to the store next week!

Most Original
Crystal Mesh Necklace ($5.80)
It might not be so unique to me in a month or two but at that price, who cares?

Dangling Round Bead Necklaces ($6.80)

Rating: Just Okay

Quality: This necklace is in a tough space. It’s not exactly super trendy nor is it something you’d necessarily want to keep forever as the low quality beads sort of cheapen the overall look. So let’s all welcome our new “Just Okay” rating to the F21 party.

Versatility: Despite it’s shortfalls, it’s still something you can get a lot of use out of especially for events where you need some kind of jewelry but don’t want it to get ruined. Maybe a beach vacation or a frat party.

Trend Factor: It’s a classic vibe fail with some layered trend thrown in.

Demographic: 20s

Jeweled Pendant Necklace ($7.80)

Rating: Trendy for Now

Quality: Wow. Online this thing looks very Disney Princess-y. This is one of the rare occasions where something looks better irl. Really, in person this necklace looks kinda cute in all its intended gaudiness.

Versatility: This can easily spice up any outfit, day or night.

Trend Factor: Fun and affordable take on the Erickson Beamon that Michelle Obama has made kind of a big deal. First lady loves her brooches.

Rating: Everyone

Filigree Flowers Necklace ($10.80)

Rating: But it Never

Quality: It felt very light and hollow like it could break at anymore. And not in a good, delicate way! In a cheap way (obvi)!

Versatility: Still! This is perfect for those times you just want to have Christmas party on your chest. And everyone says they want the spirit of Christmas to last all  year long so maybe that’s just what this is?

Trend Factor: It’s floraly and statementy and been spotted on a celebrity (Molly Sims at fashin week), so it has all the makings of being trendy. And it might just stay together long enough to last the season, but probably not.

Demographic: Nobody

Faceted Bead Bib Necklace ($11.80)

Rating: Buy It Never

Quality: I had this item in my cart online and I’m thrilled I forgot to order it. In person, those seemingly sparkly crystal beads look like they came straight from a Mardi Gras float.

Versatility: The only thing I would do with this necklace is cut it up and use the beads as rocks in my flower pot.

Trend Factor: It’s a very, very bad take on trendy bib necklaces worn by celebs like Kristen Davis and Amy Adams at the Oscars.

Demographic: Nobody

Krista Rhinestone Satin Necklace ($8.80)

Rating: Buy it Never

Quality: Ahhh! Again with awful rhinetones, the bane of our F21 accessories existence. The drop also lies a little weird probably because of the satin ribbon, these types of necklaces tend to look better when they’re shorter.

Versatility: Morticia Addams can still probably pull this necklace off no probs.

Trend: The poor little necklace is trying so hard for Gothic chic, I’m kinda rooting for it to win. But it doesn’t.

Demographic: Nobody

Mixed Flower Pearl Necklace ($15.80)

Rating: Trendy for Now

Quality: This necklace is so gaudy that it’s fun! It’s supposed to be costume jewelry, and it looks like costume jewelry. But it does not look like cheap costume jewelry. 

Versatility:  People will definitely remember this necklace. How can you not recall hot pink and bright purple flowers? But, on the plus side, the multi-color palette means you can wear it with almost every color.

Trend Factor: The oversized flowers are very Chanel Spring 2009. And the pearl/floral combo fits right in with the craze Michelle Obama started. But you’re not going to be wearing this necklace by the time Barack is re-elected.

Demographic:  Teens, 20s
